Aboriginal Awareness

A group of parishioners who promote reconciliation with Aboriginal people through Christian awareness and spirituality.

Altar Society St.Joseph’s

Takes responsibility for the décor and beautification of the altar and the church for the Weekend masses, Weddings and other celebrations. Members are rostered two or three at a time.

Altar Servers St Joseph’s

A rostered list of servers who support the Parish Priest during Mass

Catechetics team

Offers weekly religious instruction to children who attend schools other than our parish schools. There is a special emphasis on preparation for Reconciliation ,First Holy Communion and confirmation. Classes are conducted in Stella Maris School on Sundays from 9-10.30 am.

Choir

The music ministry of the parish who participate and organize the choir support at weekend masses.

Church Readers – St.Joseph’s

A rostered list of parishioners who proclaim the word at Mass or announce Prayers of the faithful.

Finance Committee

Assists the Parish Priest with all financial matters and produces an annual financial statement.

Nazareth to Nazareth

Maintains contact ,with our sister Parish of Nazareth in Israel , through regular exchange visits of parishioners and school children with their teachers. The aim is to provide a better level of understanding between the parishioners of both Parishes , which hopefully will lead to lasting friendships.

Parish Council

Reviews the Parish as a whole and makes recommendations and decisions concerning further developments. The council meets every month.

Parent’s and Friends Association of the schools

Helps the parish schools socially and financially through social functions and fund raising activities. It aims to build a spirit of community and co-operation among parents and between parents and teachers.

School Board of St.Joseph’s

Involved with all aspects of St.Joseph’s Parish School. The Board meets regularly in the school.

Special Ministers – St.Joseph’s

Parishioners , on a rostered basis ,who distribute communion during masses.

Tennis Club – Stella Maris

A social club set up and run to promote social life among the parishioners through the game of tennis. It caters for family membership as well as junior and senior members. There are membership fees to cover operating costs.

Welcoming New Parishioners

This group visits and welcomes new parishioners. It aims to keep an up to date list of all parishioners through home visits.

The local branch of an international brotherhood of practising Catholic laymen who meet socially, at least once a month, in local branches, known as Circles. The aim is to provide strength and mutual support to each other and their families, through shared values of their Catholic belief and practice.

Communion to the Sick

A group of specially trained parishioners who visit and take Holy Communion regularly to those parishioners who are unable to attend Mass.

Godstart

A Parish based post baptism program designed to help parents and families develop the faith of their pre school children

Meditation

Every Monday evening between 7.30 pm and 8.15 pm at Stella Maris, there is Lectio Divina followed by silent meditation.

Parish Community care

The Parish aims to respond to the various needs of the community as they arise. Through the kindness and generosity of a number of parishioners , the parish is able to offer various forms of assistance ie meals, transport, or a sympathetic listening ear of support as required.

School Board of Stella Maris

Involved with all aspects of the Stella Maris Parish School. The Board meets regularly in the school.

St.Vincent de Paul Society

A local branch of the world wide St.Vincent de Paul Society. It helps those in need on a person to person basis. The group meets on a monthly basis.
